Why WordPress
I’ve chosen WordPress software for this site because its easy. It definitely easier than what I did before – hand-code pages, create menus by hand, save then upload the pages by FTP etc. That means website content management is a whole lot simpler and more accessible. Lots more people are setting up websites as a result.
Easy
- to change content
- to change the design
- to customise the look
- to create RSS feeds
And its intuitive and Standards Compliant.
WordPress wasn’t originally designed as a to build website it was designed to create blogs – a web log. Now its a fully developed Content Management System (CMS). WordPress won the Overall Best Open Source CMS Award in the 2009 Open Source CMS Awards. It beat Drupal (another Open Source CMS) which came first in another category.
